Hwangsae Park in Yesan was established in 2014 after the area was chosen for the Hwangsae Village Creation Project by the Cultural Heritage Administration in 2009. As part of the efforts to restore wild habitats for Oriental storks (Natural Monument No. 199), which had been on the verge of complete disappearance from Korea due to damages to the natural environment, Yesan has been dedicating its efforts to creating a new habitat for Oriental storks by encouraging eco-friendly farming practices and so on. At Hwangsae Park in Yesan, it is now possible to enjoy the sight of these gorgeous birds.
